The Second Half of 2024 and Early 2025: Between Highs and Lows, Leading to a New Beginning

Hello, guys!
I’m really sorry for not updating this blog more often. The last post was in July, and I had planned to post a new one right after, but I got distracted (again) and completely forgot about it.
It feels like Japan Expo was a long time ago, but it was only seven months ago! It was honestly an amazing experience to be part of the official team as a photographer, and also to hold my very first exhibition. I ran all around the convention center during those four days, haha.
It was the first time I was called by SEFA Event to photograph all the music artists during the festival, and I was honored to say yes.
I had the privilege of capturing moments of well-known artists like Tetsuya Komuro and Psychic Fever from EXILE TRIBE, as well as adorable idol groups like iiiidolll, Kannagi Rabbits, and Moeazu.
At the same time, I was holding my first-ever photography exhibition titled ‘La KPOP en France, par Nathan GEY,’showcasing around fifteen photos of Korean artists taken over the past three years. In a photographer’s life, no matter the field, being able to hold an exhibition is both an honor and one of the biggest achievements.
Many people came to see the photos, and I tried my best to be there to welcome all the visitors. But with my busy schedule as the festival’s official photographer, it wasn’t easy at all! Fortunately, thanks to the Japan Expo planning team, my schedule worked out for the situation.
In the end, those four days were intense, tiring, but incredibly enjoyable and productive. Here’s a batch of photos taken during Japan Expo 2024!

Right after Japan Expo, we had a peaceful and amazing summer break with the Olympics in Paris. I enjoyed the entire month to the fullest, supporting all the French athletes in various sports and sharing those exciting moments with friends in front of the athletic events.
Last September, I turned 30 and felt a bit down about it. I had this feeling of not being in sync with my age, with no permanent job or stable relationship. Anyway, that low period was quickly lifted by shooting the Japanese band FLOW‘s show in Paris another experience with the idol group BANZAI JAPAN, who returned to France in October. This time, they came for two events: Paris Manga and Animasia in Bordeaux.
I spent more than a week with the members and the staff, and it honestly turned out to be one of the best weeks of the year. Normally, the group only stays in France for a few days, but this time, since it was a little over a week, I got to enjoy it more and spend time talking to and getting closer to both the staff and the group members.
Unfortunately, there’s not much to say about November and December — it was the worst time of the year and probably the worst in the last decade. I was overwhelmed by depression, had no motivation for anything, and even had dark and negative thoughts. I won’t go into more detail here, but I had some opportunities to shoot concerts during these two months, including WOOSUNG from The Rose and YVES, former member of LOONA, during their world tour.
In a last burst of hope, I decided to buy tickets for Tokyo in January. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this trip, but I was hoping to reconnect with the part of myself that I left behind in 2020. The trip took place between January 9 and 30.
This trip to Japan felt like a true breath of fresh air and a rebirth.
When I left in early January, I was completely exhausted, both physically and mentally and I had almost no willpower left.
But the moment I returned to Tokyo, where I had lived for five years from 2015 to 2020, it felt as if I had simply slipped back into my old life. The past five years felt like they had vanished in an instant, like a bad dream, and my old habits and instincts returned immediately.
More than anything, my mind felt clear, my heart at peace, as if a heavy burden had suddenly disappeared.
I can’t quite explain it, but when I’m in Japan, I strongly feel that this is where I belong. Not once have I ever felt that way while in France.
Reuniting with friends, meeting new people, feeling the comfort of walking safely in the streets again, shooting idol concert photos, bringing BONJOUR IDOL back to life, even working as an official photographer for some shows, and being able to work at a café without worrying about theft or distractions… And above all, living a truly busy and fulfilling daily life just like before.
During my time in Japan, I photographed many idol groups, including Kimi to Serendipity, Baby’z Breath, BANZAI JAPAN, Next⭐︎Rico, Junjoun no Afilia, Fragrant Drive, Purely Monster, Heroin no Kokoro, and more…
Most of the photos will be up on BONJOUR IDOL soon, so keep an eye out for them!

All of this brought back my desire to live and chase my dreams once again.
Moving back to Tokyo won’t be easy, and I know many challenges await, but I’ll do my best!
What’s coming up next? First, Japan Expo Sud in Marseille on February 21, 22, and 23, with BANZAI JAPAN again. I’ll be their photographer and part of the staff, just like the past two years. Also, they’ll be performing at the J-MUSIC Festival in Paris Vol. 2 on February 24 at La Bellevilloise! Also, two more photography exhibitions: one at Japan Expo Sud (the same as last summer) and a new one at the Korean Tours Festival! AND more concerts to come!! I already photographed Phantom Siita on February 15 and maybe a huge news coming for March!
There are a lot of other projects in the works, but I can’t talk about them just yet, so stay tuned!
And it’s a bit late, but… HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone!! Wishing you all the best!
